I am Chantal Bourdages, a visual artist. Through painting and glass, I explore light, textures and colours to create movement… and sometimes stop time.
Nature inspires me: its strength, its contrasts, its way of bringing us back to the essential. In my works, emotion becomes a suspended moment – a moment where we finally take the time to feel.
Our History
Chantal’s story begins in 1992, almost by chance. She enrolled in art classes out of simple interest… then discovered she possessed a real talent. A few years later, a move to the North changed everything: she explored, she experimented, she pushed her limits. She immersed herself in community art classes, discovering the palette knife, textures, and the freedom of movement.
And then, something clicked.
Very quickly, the palette knife became her language. She abandoned traditional brushes, driven by the desire to dare, to create differently, to let the material speak for itself.
Then one day, fate knocked on her door—literally. Right next door was a stained-glass workshop. Curious, Chantal went in… and that moment transformed her practice. She learned about glass and fusing. She specialized, enriching her art through inspiring travels: the colors of Mexico, the patterns of Morocco, the light of Italy.
She then understood that her glasswork was a reflection of her paintings: the same energy, the same movement, the same instinct.
Today, Chantal creates without fear.
She dares.
She revels in it.
She fuses what she loves: the spontaneity of the palette knife and the light of the glass.
